Today you will meet at Brisbane International Airport for the start of our Hosted Holiday. Tonight, will be spent en route to your first destination, Belgrade.

DAY 2 - 29TH MAY - BELGRADE

Dobrodošli u Beograd! Upon arrival, travel by coach from the airport to your hotel. This afternoon is at leisure before you get to know your fellow travellers at a welcome dinner in the charming bohemian quarter of Skadarlija, where traditional Serbian cuisine and live tamburica music will warmly welcome us to Belgrade.

DAY 4 -31ST MAY - BELGRADE

Today you’ll explore Belgrade’s most iconic sights, including Kalemegdan Fortress with its Danube–Sava viewpoint, the magnificent St. Sava Temple, and lively Republic Square. You’ll take a stroll along Knez Mihailova, Belgrade’s main pedestrian boulevard, rich in history and culture. Later you will visit a family-run farm to sample some local produce.

DAY 5 -1ST JUNE - SARAJEVO

Today you travel from Belgrade to Sarajevo – Bosnia and Herzegovina’s charming capital. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner in historic Baščaršija, where you’ll savour slow-cooked traditional Bosnian dishes and experience Sarajevo’s warm hospitality.

DAY 6 - 2ND JUNE - SARAJEVO

Enjoy a guided walking tour through Sarajevo’s layered history and culture, visiting the Latin Bridge, Baščaršija’s vibrant streets, and the iconic Sebilj fountain, before learning about the city’s recent past at the Tunnel of Hope. A highlight of today is a 45-minute ride on the Nostalgia tram—modeled after the original 1895 carriages - offering a charming journey through Sarajevo’s heritage.

DAY 7 - 3RD JUNE - DUBROVNIK (via MOSTAR)

Today you travel to Dubrovnik, stopping in Mostar for a guided walking tour of its historic Old Town. Highlights include the iconic Stari Most (Old Bridge), where you may witness the daring local bridge divers who leap into the river below, Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque, the bustling Old Bazaar, and the Bosnaseum. A leisurely lunch in Mostar gives you a chance to enjoy local flavors before continuing the scenic journey along the Adriatic coast to Dubrovnik.

Today, it’s a visit to the stunning Montenegrin town of Kotor, nestled at the head of the spectacular Bay of Kotor. Today marks the start of our Adriatic cruise adventure! At the Gruž Harbour in Dubrovnik you board our luxury private yacht, the Pearl of the Adriatic. DAY 11 - 7TH JUNE - SLANO

Cruising from Dubrovnik to Slano, there is a swim stop before continuing to Slano. Take a short boat ride to Ston, an area renowned for its centuries-old oyster farming tradition. Here, you will visit an oyster farm to sample fresh oysters and mussels, perfectly paired with local wine. The rest of the afternoon and evening are at leisure to relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings.

DAY 12 -8TH JUNE - MLJET

Early this morning, cruise to the beautiful island of Mljet, known for its lush forests and stunning National Park. After enjoying lunch on board, and a refreshing swim you have time to explore Mljet National Park, including the breathtaking turquoise lakes of Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero. Board a small boat and visit the islet of St. Mary to see the Benedictine Monastery built during the 12th century. This evening, enjoy a special Captain’s dinner together on board.

DAY 13 - 9TH JUNE - KORCULA

After breakfast, cruise from Mljet to Korčula, the reputed birthplace of Marco Polo. En route, enjoy a swim stop before docking in the afternoon, to explore Korčula’s Old Town on a guided walking tour. Wandering the cobblestone streets and medieval walls, visit St. Mark’s Cathedral at its heart. Afterwards, travel to a picturesque Korčula farm to discover the secrets of bees, fragrant island herbs, and local delicacies, sampling honey, olive oil, fig jam, and spices. Conclude your tour with a taste of Trut Signature gin, infused with the island’s summer flavors.

DAY 14 - 10TH JUNE- VIS

This morning, cruise to Vis, not only a formerly restricted military base which has preserved its natural charm but also the backdrop for the movie ”Mamma Mia Here We Go Again”. The afternoon here is at leisure to experience Vis’s natural beauty firsthand. You may choose to visit the Archaeological Museum, in a former 19th-century Austrian fortress, take an optional Military tour or stroll the seaside promenade which is lined with inviting bars and restaurants.

DAY 15 - 11 TH JUNE - HVAR

Today begins with an optional excursion to the spectacular Blue Cave on the island of Biševo, where sunlight creates a stunning deep-blue glow inside the cavern (weather permitting). Continue toward the historic town of Stari Grad on the island of Hvar, stopping for a swim at the beautiful Paklinski Islands. At Stari Grad, enjoy free time before joining a guided walking tour from the harbour to the cathedral, passing one of Dalmatia’s largest squares and exploring Stari Grad’s Venetian architecture and winding lanes. Later, travel to the UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain, an ancient agricultural landscape dating back to the 4th century BC. Here, witness a beautiful sunset, sample local delicacies, and enjoy a traditional Peka dinner, surrounded by ancient olive groves and fragrant lavender fields.

It’s time to farewell Croatia and travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia’s charming capital. Ljubljana is a picturesque city where diverse historic and cultural influences converge. Its romantic old town, best explored on foot, features the architecture of Jože Plečnik alongside medieval, Baroque, and Secessionist styles. The iconic Dragon Bridge symbolises the city, while the vibrant riverbanks of the Ljubljanica are lined with outdoor cafés. This morning, visit Savica Waterfall, one of Slovenia’s most iconic natural wonders. Nestled in a lush alpine setting, it plunges over 70 metres into a clear pool below. Take a short forest walk that leads to the base of the falls for a picturesque view. Afterwards, enjoy a unique cultural experience with a cheese tour, including visits to the Alpine Museum and a local cheese farm. Learn about traditional cheese-making methods and sample a variety of cheeses and other regional specialities for an authentic taste of Slovenia.

Explore Zagreb with a guided walking tour. Explore the charming streets and architecture the historic museum quarter of Gradec. Fitness Level & Physical Requirements

The itinerary includes coach travel between destinations, a 7-night Adriatic cruise aboard the private MS Adriatic Queen, and walking tours through historic old towns with cobblestone streets. If you enjoy cultural discovery, regional cuisine, stunning coastal scenery and alpine landscapes, this journey offers exceptional variety and depth.

This tour requires a moderate level of fitness.

  • Regular walking tours, often on uneven cobblestones and inclines
  • Steps in historic centres, castles and national parks
  • Boarding and disembarking the cruise vessel (may involve gangways)
  • Walking in Plitvice Lakes National Park (wooden boardwalks and natural paths)
  • Visits to Savica Waterfall and Bled Castle include uphill sections
  • Warm early-summer temperatures may increase fatigue

Participants should be comfortable walking for 1–3 hours at a time with rest breaks. Mobility aids may be challenging in some historic areas due to stairs and uneven terrain.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel insurance is a mandatory requirement for all Hosted Holidays. It’s important that you protect yourself in case of natural disasters, lost or delayed baggage and unforeseen medical expenses. We strongly recommend that the policy covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment, repatriation and loss of luggage and personal effects.  Make sure you keep any receipts for anything you may wish to claim for on your return – i.e. medical receipts etc. Please make sure you bring a copy of your policy with you on tour. We recommend that you take out travel insurance at the time of paying your deposit.

 The Balkans and Croatia are known for warm hospitality and strong cultural traditions.

  • A handshake is the common greeting; direct eye contact is appreciated.
  • Dress modestly when visiting churches and monasteries (shoulders and knees covered).
  • Tipping is customary (included where specified in your tour).
  • Punctuality is appreciated for group departures.
  • Smoking is more common in parts of the Balkans than in Australia.
  • Respect for history and local sensitivities, particularly regarding the 1990s conflicts, is important.

The cuisine across Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia and Slovenia reflects Mediterranean, Ottoman, Central European and Balkan influences.

Coastal areas are warmer and sunnier, while alpine Slovenia can be cooler in mornings and evenings. Rain showers are possible but generally brief.

ATMs & Credit Card
ATMs are widely available in cities and larger towns, but may be limited in rural areas, so it’s best to carry some Euro in cash for smaller purchases, tips and emergencies. Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, shops, and restaurants, but it's advisable to carry cash for tips, markets, and local purchases.

Spending Money During Your Trip:
Spending habits vary by traveller, but you should allow enough cash for souvenirs, drinks, snacks, optional excursions, laundry, or personal expenses during your free time. While some expenses can be paid by card, smaller purchases and tips are best handled in local currency or AUD or USD.

CONNECTIVITY & COMMUNICATION

A power adaptor is required for EUROPE are required; we suggest a universal adaptor for sockets type C and F (European two-round-pin plug).

Europe has good mobile phone coverage in most urban and tourist areas, though signal strength may drop in more remote or mountainous regions.   Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels, cafes, and some public spaces, but connections can vary in speed and reliability. If you’d like consistent access to data and local calls, you can easily purchase a local SIM card or eSIM on arrival at the airport or from major telecom providers. Make sure your phone is unlocked before you travel. Keep in mind that while you’ll be able to stay connected, some parts of the itinerary may involve limited reception—perfect for switching off and enjoying the scenery.

LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE

Your economy ticket includes 23kg of checked baggage per passenger, plus on piece of cabin baggage up to 7kg. Due to coach travel and cabin storage on the cruise, one medium suitcase plus one carry-on is recommended.

 SAFETY

The Balkans are generally safe for tourists, however, be mindful of pickpocketing in crowded areas.  Keep valuables secure, we strongly recommend the use of a neck wallet or money belt while travelling, for the safe keeping of your passport, cash and other valuable items. Please leave other valuables, such as jewellery, at home. Most accommodations provide safety deposit boxes, an excellent way of storing your valuables. We also advise you to keep a photocopy of your passport, separate from your actual passport, when you travel.

A lock is recommended for securing your luggage.

Your Host will accompany you on all included activities, however during your trip you'll have some free time to pursue your own interests, relax and take it easy or explore at your leisure. You should use your own judgment when choosing activities or excursions, which do not form part of the trip you have booked with Hosted Holidays. As in all countries, taking photos of police stations, border crossings, immigration controls, army barracks, military personnel or checkpoints, airports or political demonstrations is never a good idea, often illegal, and very likely to land you in trouble with the authorities.
