DAY 1 -15th August - Brisbane to Longreach
Our adventure begins as we board our flight from Brisbane to Longreach, where we are met by our air-conditioned coach and taken to the boutique Mitchell Grass Retreat, the perfect base for our Outback Experience. After settling into your luxury glamping tent, unwind and soak in the serenity of the outback. This evening, enjoy a unique Sundown Native Harvest Feast under the vast, open sky. This immersive Indigenous dining experience features native food demonstrations and bush-inspired cuisine. It’s the perfect way to kick off our outback adventure.

DAY 2 - 16th August - Longreach
After breakfast, we ease into a laid-back Sunday as we depart Longreach Station and travel east aboard a historic Rail Motor across the wide-open plains to Ilfracombe. The view from the tracks gives us a whole new appreciation of the outback’s big sky country. Along the way, we hear stories of the land and the ancient inland sea that once covered this region. In Ilfracombe, we explore a town full of charm and character before enjoying lunch at the iconic Wellshot Hotel – the oldest pub in the west, packed with quirky memorabilia and history. Afterwards, we relax on the return journey to Longreach.
This evening, we will experience the Luminescent Longreach Light and Sound Show designed to delight, entertain, and inform. The show brings 100 years of Qantas history to life, projected onto the side of the mighty Boeing 747 aircraft.

DAY 3 - 17th August - Winton
Today is our full day tour to Winton which is known for its dinosaur fossils and the award-winning Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum which is one of the highlights of the day. We have the opportunity to learn more about the amazing creatures that once walked this part of the world, with the Ultimate Dinosaur Tour. Afterwards we enjoy a country pub lunch at the iconic Tattersalls Hotel before exploring the town’s landmarks, paying tribute to the Australian hero, Banjo Paterson and his famous song, Waltzing Matilda. We visit the Waltzing Matilda centre, the first museum in the world dedicated to a song. Later in the afternoon, we return to Longreach to relax before a BBQ dinner.

DAY 4 - 18th August - Longreach
This morning, we visit the iconic Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame for an unforgettable journey into outback life. We’ll begin with a self-guided audio and video tour through the museum’s fascinating exhibits. Then, the Stockman’s Life Live Show brings the story to life as we hear real tales and witness the impressive skills that define the Australian stockman. From live mustering to the incredible connection between horse and rider, it’s a true celebration of bush heritage. We’ll also enjoy a powerful 20-minute cinematic experience that captures the heart and soul of life on the land. Your afternoon is free to relax before our evening activities. Watch the colours of the outback come alive at sunset as we sail down the Thompson River on the Longreach Explorer. Take in the 360 degree sweeping views from the top deck, whilst our Captain entertains us with captivating stories about the wildlife and Indigenous heritage. After sunset, we dock at Smithy’s Outback Dinner & Show where you can relax under the stars and enjoy a camp-oven themed dinner, while enjoying the live entertainment.

DAY 5 - 19th August - Longreach to Brisbane
On our final morning in the outback, we return to the Qantas Founders Museum to embark on a 1.5-hour guided tour exploring some of aviation’s most iconic aircraft, including the Douglas DC-3, Catalina flying boat, Lockheed Super Constellation, Boeing 707, and the legendary Boeing 747. We take our time exploring the museum’s main exhibition hall and the National Heritage Listed Hangar – all part of this incredible aviation adventure. This afternoon our Hosted Holiday Outback Experience has come to an end. It’s time to farewell new friends and head to the airport for our flight home with memories that will stay with us forever.
